AMAN Team Participated in CSOs Capacity Building Workshop on HPV Vaccination!

Organized by EPI Sindh in collaboration with Jhpiego.

This workshop was a valuable opportunity to learn more on HPV vaccination, and to network with other CSOs and stakeholders working towards promoting immunization and public health in Sindh.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates among the participants by the Project Director EPI Sindh Dr. Raj Kumar, along with Vice President AMAN Prof Sadiah Ahsan Pal and other esteemed guests as Ms.Huma Khawar, SOGP secretory General Prof Tazeen Abbas, and other respected guests.

We're committed to working together to ensure that every girl in Sindh has access to life-saving HPV vaccines and is protected against cervical cancer!

AMAN, with support from GAVI, organized a kick-off orientation meeting in Khairpur today to raise awareness on HPV vaccination.

The session brought together key stakeholders from Shikarpur, Kambar, and Khairpur, and was well attended by the Deputy Commissioner Khairpur, DHOs and ADHOs of Khairpur and Shikarpur, EPI focal persons, and representatives from SOGP, PPA, RMNCH Program, PPHI, the District Education Department, and local CSOs – working together to protect girls against cervical cancer.

Orientation Meeting by AMAN for Gavi-Supported HPV Vaccination Initiative!

AMAN successfully conducted an orientation meeting in Hyderabad for the Gavi-supported HPV vaccination program, with a focus on the districts of Hyderabad and Tando Muhammad Khan.

The session brought together key stakeholders dedicated to protecting adolescent girls from cervical cancer, including:

Dr. Zaheer Memon – Deputy Director General Health

Dr. Pir Ghulam Hussain – District Health Officer, Hyderabad

Dr. Abdullah Nizamani – EPI Focal Person

Representatives from the RMNCH Program, Private and Government schools including SEF, and Civil Society Organizations such as PPHI and VPT

The orientation aimed to raise awareness, align stakeholders, and ensure the effective rollout of the HPV vaccine to eligible adolescent girls.

Together, we take another step towards a future where every girl is protected, informed, and empowered.

AMAN, in collaboration with the Human Development Foundation (HDF), conducted an Orientation Session for Teachers of Tando Muhammad Khan to raise awareness about the HPV vaccination campaign for girls aged 9 to 14 years.

This informative session aimed to equip teachers with accurate knowledge to become key advocates in their schools and communities ahead of the HPV vaccination campaign, which will run from September 15 to 27, 2025.

By educating and engaging our educators, we are taking an important step toward cervical cancer prevention and a healthier future for our young girls

AMAN is delighted to have hosted the launch of our GAVI-supported project on HPV vaccination today in Karachi.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from academia, professional organizations, and government to unite for the cause of protecting young girls from cervical cancer.

We had the pleasure of hosting Emily Kobayashi, Head of the HPV Vaccine Program at GAVI, and Mr. Craig Beyerrinck, Program Manager Pakistan, along with Ms. Huma Khawar and Dr. Tariq Masood.

Our meeting was a dynamic exchange on strengthening our ongoing collaboration for the HPV Vaccination Advocacy Project. AMAN proudly showcased its work in promoting cervical cancer prevention and control, while Prof. Sadiah A. Pal and Dr. Azra Ahsan shared invaluable clinical insights.

Together, we’re committed to protecting women’s health and advancing the fight against cervical cancer in Pakistan.

An inspiring awareness session on HPV vaccine and cervical cancer prevention was held on July 30, 2025 by the Ob/Gyn Ward 8, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) in collaboration with Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), Association for Mothers and Newborns (AMAN), Pakistan Paediatric Association (PPA), Medical Women Association of Pakistan (MWAP), Obs/Gyn Interest Group and Society of Ob/Gyn of Pakistan (SOGP) — empowering health professionals to champion HPV vaccination for girls aged 9–14.

On December 18, 2024, we formalized a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with the Health Services Academy (HSA) and Bakhabar Noujawan. This landmark agreement was signed by AMAN’s President, Dr. Azra Ahsan, and HSA’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shehzad Ali Khan. We are excited about this collaboration and look forward to making a meaningful impact together.

NCMNH & AMAN in collaboration with SOGP celebrated International Women's Day today in Karachi. The theme being “inspire inclusion “. This was highlighted during the meeting.

Event started with the launch of 8th Edition of ‘Textbook of Obstetrics & Gynaecology’ by Prof. Rashid Lateef and ‘National Guidelines for the management of PPH for Pakistan’. Findings from ‘In-depth Analysis of Pakistan Maternal Mortality Survey (PMMS) – 2019’ and institutionalisation of Post-Partum Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (?PPIUCD) - in Pakistan were also disseminated. Online Reproductive Health course ‘Bakhabar Noujawan’ was introduced, and next steps discussed.

Strategies to improve maternal health and family planning and eventually to a more inclusive and equitable society were discussed.

Association for Mothers and Newborns (AMAN) in collaboration with Rotary Club (RC) of Karachi Cosmopolitan conducted a workshop and seminar on World Population Day, July 11, at Patel Hospital, Karachi. These activities were part of Rotary Global Grant on “Postpartum and post-miscarriage family planning in 6 health facilities in Sindh and Balochistan”. The workshop provided hands-on training to doctors and midwives on postpartum IUCD insertion. Speakers at the seminar included Dr Talat Rizvi (RC New Central, District Chair, MCH) and Dr Shahida Zaidi (Project Coordinator of Rotary Global Grant and Vice President, AMAN).

NCMNH in collaboration with Association for Mothers and Newborns (AMAN), set up a Post Pregnancy Family Planning and Postabortion Care Skills Lab at Hameed Latif hospital , Lahore on December 21, 2022. Dr Mariam Iqbal, Provincial Technical Consultant NCMNH, handed over the equipment and IEC material to Prof. Rubina Sohial.

The objective is to strengthen Skilled Birth Attendants to provide family planning (FP) services and to ensure that the mother not only leaves the health facility with a baby but a contraceptive too.

NCMNH in collaboration with Association for Mothers and Newborns (AMAN), set up a PpFP SKILLS LAB at Ob/Gyn department of Ayub teaching hospital, Abbottabad. It was inaugurated by Prof Dr. Umar Farooq, Dean and CEO Ayub medical teaching institute (AMTI) on 14th October, 2022.

The objective is to strengthen Skilled Birth Attendants to provide family planning (FP)services and sensitize them to integrate FP with all health services.

National Committee for Maternal and Neonatal Health (NCMNH) is promoting Post Pregnancy Family Planning (PpFP) services for 10 years. To sustain PpFP services, Skills labs are being established in selected hospitals. Objective is to strengthen the skills of Health Care Providers in providing Post Abortion Care using Manual Vacuum Aspiration & Medications and Post Pregnancy Family Planning (PpFP) services particularly IUCDs & Contraceptive Implants.
To commemorate World Contraception Day on Monday, 26 September 2022, NCMNH in collaboration with Association for Mothers and Newborns (AMAN), inaugurated a PpFP Skills Lab at New Beginnings Hospital, Karachi.
The purpose of this activity is to create awareness about:
1. The burgeoning population and its implications for the country
2. Strengthen Skilled Birth Attendants to provide FP services and sensitize them to integrate FP with all health services.

Postpregnancy Family Planning (PpFP) and Postabortion Care (PAC) Skills Lab has been developed  by NCMNH and AMAN at Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) and was inaugurated by Chief guest  Prof. Taqdees Gillani, Member Legislation Assembly. Executive Director AIMS, Prof Masood Bukhari appreciated the efforts and supported the provision of FP services at Tertiary care hospitals

NCMNH donated instruments & manikins for the skills Lab, to the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Combined Military Hospital, Muzaffarabad. This will facilitate training of Skilled Birth Attendants and sustainability of PpFP & PAC services.
