AMAN successfully conducted a Pre-Conference Workshop on the WHO Labour Care Guide (LCG) at Hamdard University Hospital, Karachi, as part of its Annual International Scientific Conference 2026. The interactive workshop brought together 23 doctors, who strengthened their understanding of the WHO Labour Care Guide through case-based learning, practical application, and clinical discussion. The session focused on moving from monitoring to meaningful clinical action, helping participants translate LCG findings into timely and appropriate care decisions. The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Sadiah Ahsan Pal, Dr. Sidrah Nousheen, and Prof. Erum Khalid, reinforcing AMAN’s commitment to promoting evidence-based, respectful and safer maternity care.

AMAN conducted a Pre-Conference Workshop on Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH) Elimination at LUMHS Thatta Campus, bringing together 100+ participants, including medical students, nursing and midwifery students, public health professionals, and faculty members. The workshop focused on prevention, early recognition, and timely management of PPH, with practical learning on EMOTIVE care, Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT), and the Non-Pneumatic Anti-Shock Garment (NASG). The workshop was Organised by Prof. Fouzia Rasool, Head of the ObGyn Department; Dr Saba Kalhoro ( Senior Registrar O&G), Mr. Adam Malik, regional director of Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF); Dr. Safdar Shah, DHO; Dr. Sarwar, Principal; and Brig. Sarwar, Administrator graced the workshop by their attendance, reflecting a strong institutional commitment to preventing avoidable maternal deaths. As part of AMAN’s commitment to strengthening emergency maternal care, AMAN donated one NASG to the hospital, supporting the stabilization and management of women experiencing severe obstetric haemorrhage. Together, let’s strengthen lifesaving skills, promote respectful maternity care, and work towards a future where no mother dies from preventable PPH.

AMAN’s unique and much-needed Pre-Conference Workshop brought together healthcare professionals from different specialties for an engaging and thought-provoking learning experience on 29 September 2026 at New Beginnings Healthcare, Karachi. Through interactive discussions and role-plays, participants explored both sides of the healthcare communication equation—the pressures and sensitivities faced by healthcare providers and the journalists’ responsibility to communicate accurate, timely and understandable health information to the public. The workshop highlighted the importance of trust, empathy, responsible reporting and effective communication in ensuring that communities receive reliable health information. Facilitated by Zofeen T. Ebrahim, Sheema Siddiqui and Sidrah Dar, the session provided a practical platform for doctors to better understand the media perspective while strengthening their own skills in engaging with journalists. AMAN continues to create meaningful spaces where clinical practice, public health and effective communication come together.

On 22 September 2026, AMAN conducted a Teachers’ Awareness Session in collaboration with District Education Office at GGHSS PAF Drigh Road, Cantt Bazaar, District Korangi, Karachi. . The session was on HPV vaccination to prevent Cervical Cancer, 120 teachers from Nasir Colony, Korangi 33, and Gulzar Colony attended. While AMAN representatives gave key information, Deputy DEO Ms. Afshan highlighted the vital role of teachers in shaping health-seeking behavior and encouraged teachers to raise awareness among parents about the role of HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. Today, the Association for Mothers and Newborns, in collaboration with Zindagi Trust and Kiran Foundation, launched the School-Based Family Learning Initiative, with support from Bank Alfalah. The 12-month initiative will engage mothers, primary caregivers and students through school-based health learning, with teachers equipped to carry the approach forward. Bakhabar Noujawan, AMAN’s digital health-literacy platform, will support the model with accessible, lifecycle-focused health content. From informed decisions to healthier communities.

AMAN conducted an interactive session with vaccinators in 4 Union Councils of District East, Karachi, in collaboration with DHO East Dr. Ashique Hussain Shah. The session focused on HPV vaccine challenges, addressing parents’ concerns and misconceptions, and strengthening communication on HPV vaccination for cervical cancer prevention. Vaccinators are the main and trusted point of contact with communities. Empowering them with the right knowledge and communication skills is key to building confidence and protecting eligible girls. A productive and insightful meeting was held today with the Team MD, including Ms. Huma and Dr. Tabinda, together with the leadership of AMAN—Prof. Sadiah A. Pal, Dr. Azra Ahsan, and Dr. Humera Mansoor. Discussion focussed around the Gavi-supported HPV Vaccine Demand Generation Initiative being implemented by AMAN. The initiative is being implemented across 8 districts of Sindh to strengthen awareness, address myths and misconceptions, and promote acceptance and uptake of the HPV vaccine for the prevention of cervical cancer. The meeting provided an important opportunity to reflect, discuss progress and achievements, identify challenges related to vaccination targets and demand generation, and collectively explore the way forward. Through continued collaboration, strategic planning, and stronger coordination with stakeholders, we remain committed to reaching more communities and protecting young girls against cervical cancer.

Every Mother, Every Child, Safe Every Where ! ہر ماں، ہر بچہ، ہر جگہ — سلامت! In partnership with Every Pregnancy, the world’s first Zakat-approved Muslim collaborative for mothers and newborns, AMAN conducted its first capacity-building intervention at Ehsan Kamal Hospital, strengthening the healthcare team’s capacity to provide quality Maternal and Newborn care in line with standards of Sindh Healthcare Commission. With more interventions planned, this marks the beginning of a sustained effort to strengthen the quality and safety of care for Mothers and Newborns. The training focused on essential life-saving skills, including prevention and management of Post Partum Haemorrhage (PPH), recognition and management of Pre-eclampsia, Family Planning, Neonatal Resuscitation and Kangaroo Mother Care. It engaged 22 doctors and midwives, while 7 additional hospital staff received sessions on Infection Prevention, Referral mechanisms, and standardised treatment protocols. The participation of 3 doctors and 2 midwives from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) further promoted peer learning and strengthened linkages between facilities, supporting the development of a functional referral pathway for timely access to higher-level care. Together, we are building skills, strengthening systems, and connecting care—working towards a future where every mother and every newborn receives safe, quality care at the right time and in the right place.

We shared updates on AMAN’s work in Maternal & Newborn Health and our HPV Vaccine Demand Generation project running in 8 districts, 25 UCs of Sindh — with special focus on Hyderabad. Grateful for DG Health’s engagement and support as we work toward protecting girls and strengthening routine immunization.

Respected Mr. Zain-ul-Abedin Memon, was briefed on AMAN’s HPV vaccine advocacy initiative in five Union Councils in district Hyderabad. The DC assured full administrative support and facilitated engagement with the Union Councilors. Dr. Humera Mansoor thanked him and his team Ms Mahvish Ejaz ADC 2 and Dr Lubna NSTOP officer, for all the valuable support and cooperation.

On the directives and support of the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Mr Zain ul Abedin and DHO Hyderabad Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain, AMAN conducted an orientation session for 26 Union Council Chairmans from the five UCs, where AMAN is implementing its HPV Vaccine Advocacy & Demand Generation Project. The session, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ms. Mehvish Ijaz, and was facilitated by Dr. Humera Mansoor, Project Director AMAN along with her team Ms Kaneez Rubab and Mirza Umair Baig, with support from Dr. Zulfiqar Khoso, EPI Focal Person, and Dr. Shireen Shah, ADHO. The session focused on addressing myths and misconceptions about the HPV vaccine and empowering local leaders to promote accurate information and create demand for HPV vaccination within their communities. All the UC chairmans discussed about the Cervical cancer burden and effectiveness of the vaccine. At the end they were committed to support the cause.

The AMAN Team Dr. Azra Ahsan, Dr. Humera Mansoor, Mr. Mirza Umair Baig and Ms. Kaneez Rubab — held a productive meeting with DHO Hyderabad, Dr. Pir Muhammad, along with Dr. Zulfiqar Khoso, DFP EPI, and his team. The meeting reviewed the progress and challenges of HPV vaccine demand generation activities in AMAN’s five targeted Union Councils, with future strategies discussed to strengthen community engagement and vaccine uptake. The DHO and his team expressed their full support and commitment to AMAN’s HPV advocacy and demand generation efforts.

AMAN team — Dr. Azra Ahsan, Dr. Humera Mansoor, Ms. Kaneez Rubab and Mirza Umair Baig — held a strategic meeting with Medical Superintendent Dr. Ershad Kazmi, facilitated by Dr. Zulfiqar Khoso, DFP EPI Hyderabad, to strengthen HPV advocacy and demand generation in the district. With LUMHS Civil Hospital serving critical cases from around 16 districts and receiving 12,000–15,000 daily visitors, the facility offers a powerful platform for awareness and demand creation. Dr. Ershad Kazmi expressed strong support, including plans for LCD-based HPV awareness messaging and a 24/7 EPI centre and suggested DHO to provide female vaccinators round the clock. AMAN will provide advocacy materials in English, Urdu and Sindhi. A positive step towards stronger collaboration for HPV vaccination and cervical cancer prevention in Hyderabad.
