Improved Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) services in District Dir Upper, KP

The project initiated by AMAN in collaboration with the New Partnerships Initiative (NPI) EXPAND Human Development Activity (HDA) in District Dir Upper, KP aimed to improve Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) services. It was a 10-month project that was implemented between August 2023 – May 2024. Community Health Awareness sessions were conducted to avoid first delay, timely referrals were strengthened to minimise second delay and trainings of HCPs were conducted on early identification of high-risk cases, appropriate management, and timely referral to reduce third delay. An online remote clinic and a WhatsApp group were used for supportive supervision and mentorship. Integration of Postpartum Family Planning (PPFP) was encouraged. The project introduced a health application called “Meri Sehat” to monitor vital signs in low-resource settings.
